How do you realize your dreams? What are your dreams? Do you have one or more? Has it been a while since you really thought about your dreams? What will it take to make it happen?
In October, 2015, I attended a networking event called The Chicagoland Co-Opvertising Network. Greg S. Reid, author of the The Millionaire Mentor was the guest speaker. I learned 3 or 4 lessons from Mr. Reid that day which propelled me forward in both my business and in my personal lives.
“What is your dream?” Reid asked the group at our private mastermind meeting. That little question struck me. I realized I had not ‘dreamed’ since I had children, really. For 8 years prior to my daughter’s birth, my dream was to have children. Period. My dream came true 13 years ago, followed by twin sons 12 years ago. Boom! Life seemed to creep on and fast-forward all at the same time until October, 2015.
What was my dream? Happy and satisfied with my husband, children, friends, faith and growing business, what more was there? For three days, I reflected, and came up with 2 dreams. As I was just beginning to streamline my business to content writing, my first dream was to write surrounded by nature’s beauty. I have wanted to be a writer since I was 15. For as long as I remember reading books, in the back of my mind, I dreamed of writing in seclusion, surrounded by nature’s beauty – oceans, mountains, gardens, lakes.
This past week, we traveled to Turks & Caicos in the Caribbean. This far in my life, it is the most beautiful place I have traveled. It is paradise. For all us business owners, we know there is no such thing as a ‘work-free vacation.’ A few assignments followed me, including writing my first article for SoConnected. Like all business owners, my own writings follow the famous story of the ‘cobbler’s children have no shoes.’ I write blogs, articles, website content, fliers, one-sheets and all for my clients, but it takes a while to pull my assignments into the pipeline.
Finally, it happened, for whatever reason, the stars aligned, time in my day opened, inspiration prevailed. While relaxing on a comfy chair with 3 shades of blue ocean water waving and lapping before me, I opened my laptop, and wrote my first article for SoConnected. In the middle of it, I recognized the dream I set before me in October. It was that moment, I realized my first dream – writing surrounded by nature’s beauty. Ahhh. And that’s what it’s all about!
When was the last time you dreamed? What is your dream? Is it small or large? Good thing about dreams is that you are never too young or too old and they can happen anytime, anywhere.
Do you have a series of dreams? What will it take to make your dream happen? What step can you take to move towards realizing your dream? The first step is putting it out in the universe! I would love to hear your dreams! Declare it now in the comments!
